Writing better Corvid queries
A well-written query returns useful matches and skips the noise. Corvid passes your query to the chosen source, so most search syntax works the same way as in Brave Search.
Exact phrases
Wrap multiple words in quotes to require them to appear together.
"supply chain resilience"
Required and excluded terms
Use + and - to force or block terms.
+ukraine +grain -football
Either/or
Use OR (uppercase) between alternatives.
"generative AI" OR "large language model"
Site scope
Limit results to a single site.
"open source" site:github.com
Date-sensitive searches
Some sources support date filtering. Corvid already de-duplicates by URL, so you will only see new pages even without a date filter.
Common mistakes
- Too broad:
machine learningwill flood your inbox. Add context like"machine learning" hiring remote. - Too narrow:
"purple left-handed flux capacitor"may never match anything. - Quotes around single words:
"corvid"works but is usually unnecessary.
Test and tune
Start with a narrow query, run it for a few days, then widen it if you are missing useful results.
